27. – 30. August 2017 in Bamberg
Exclusively for Sommer Oper Bamberg participants
It´s the combination of its pieces that makes the Summer Opera Bamberg so unique: the young musicians and singers are not just part of an opera and orchestra workshop, but also mutually work on an entire opera production.
Before the scenic rehearsals begin, a master class, which is thematically embedded within the production, offers the singers – all at the beginning of their careers – the unique opportunity to work with a world-famous artist in a practically relevant and application-oriented way and to use the acquired knowledge onstage right away.
It's our great pleasure, that Kammersängerin Angelika Kirchschlager will take on this role for the fourth time. The acclaimed mezzo-soprano will prepare the ensemble of the Summer Opera Bamberg 2017 for the opera ›La Traviata‹, and give the young soloists the opportunity, to soak themselves into their respective parts individually and interpretation wise, and at the same time share her treasure trove of experience with them.
Angelika Kirchschlager about her first master class at the project stage 2011:
»My first master class at the Summer Opera Bamberg 2011 was a very exhilarating experience for me. That's why I am incredibly happy to work with the students on ›Don Govianni‹, another Mozart opera in 2013. Mozart is especially rewarding, since the artistic work stands in a very close connection with the human aspect. [...] The selection of the singers made by the Summer Opera was so excellent, so that there was an wonderful professional basis right from the start, to build on.«
By the express wish of Mrs. Kirchschlager it is possible for interested members of the public to passively attend the master class.
